Before-flight preparation and supply of information are basic requirements for safe flying. Never underestimate the before-flight preparation - always give it enough time and attention. In case that you do not have enough time for the preparation, postpone the flight. You need fresh information about weather, weather forecast, situations at destination airport and information about space activation. Do not forget to check out flight regulations and possible changes.

Prepare your flight journey by drawing it in a map and filling the navigation label before flight.

Always know the length of your flight. How much time do you have until for example sunset and how much fuel will be needed.

The more complicated flight, the more important the preparation is. Never fly without preparation in a map. Flight using GPS is no exception.

Realize that GPS does not substitute before-flight preparation, nor map! GPS is a good servant, but a bad master!

When flying with friends in more aircrafts at once (group flight), then every aircraft in a group has to have the navigation preparation! Never say "you have the map, we will follow you"! This approach is very dangerous. Loosing the leading aircraft is very easy!

The one who neglects the before-flight preparation and relies just on GPS, will have problems in case of GPS failure. While the pilot with the preparation in a map will stay calm...
