Course proccess

Theoretical part

  • Theoretical pre-flight preparation takes place in our classroom at Sazená airport. Theoretical part comprises lessons and is in the form of lectures and consultations, the second part of the theoretical preparation is in the form of selfstudying and consultations. The syllabus of the theoretical part includes: Air Law, Aircraft General, Flight Performance and Planning, Human Performance and Limitation, Meteorology, Navigation&Radio Aids, Operational Procedures, Principles of Flight and Communication.

Practice

  • A minimum of 45 hours of flight time is required according to the approved syllabus. A holder of a valid ULLa , Glider and Helicopter pilot licence is allowed to count in 10% of his/her flown hours of flight time as pilot in command (6 hours at the most) into the total number of hours of flight time to receive a LAPL licence. The training is performed on the helicopters type Robinson R22 or Robinson R44.

LAPL(H) flight training plan:

  • pre-flight operations, including mass and balance determination, helicopter inspection and servicing;
  • aerodrome and traffic pattern operations, collision avoidance precautions and procedures;
  • control of the helicopter by external visual reference;
  • take-offs, landings, hovering, look out turns and normal transitions from and to the hover;
  • emergency procedures, basic autorotations, simulated engine failure, ground resonance recovery if relevant to type;
  • sideways and backwards flight, turns on the spot;
  • incipient vortex ring recognition and recovery;
  • touchdown autorotations, simulated engine-off landings, practice forced landings. Simulated equipment malfunctions and emergency procedures relating to malfunctions of engines, controls, electrical and hydraulic circuits;
  • steep turns;
  • transitions, quick stops, out of wind manoeuvres, sloping ground landings and take-offs;
  • limited power and confined area operations including selection of and operations to and from unprepared sites;
  • flight by sole reference to basic flight instruments including completion of a level 180° turn and recovery from unusual attitudes to simulate inadvertent entry into cloud (this training may be conducted by an FI(H);
  • cross-country flying by using visual reference, dead reckoning and, where available, radio navigation aids;
  • operations to, from and transiting controlled aerodromes, compliance with air traffic services procedures, communication procedures and phraseology

The End of Course

  • Theoretical examination is in the form of test taken at the Civil Aviation Authority. Practical skills are checked by the testing officer (examinator) of the Civil Aviation Authority.
